The Seed Pearl

728580ea1e2efb5ceb3b29a0ae296447“Only after concentrated work of a hundred days will the light be genuine, then only will it become spirit-fire. After a hundred days there develops by itself in the midst of the light a point of the true light-pole (yang). Then suddenly there develops the seed pearl. It is as if man and woman embraced and a conception took place. Then one must be quite still and wait. The circulation of the light is the epoch of fire.” The Secret of the Golden Flower.

The creation of a body within the body. The growing of an inner form which is the fundament of all healing – an essence crystallised which micro -macro cosmically aligns with the astral body.

We are living in a multi – dimensional universe. Every single thing is represented in some way in every dimension.

In the gross physical dimension – the seed pearl is manifest as a crystallised energy, living light or awareness which sits in the lower abdomen and from there circulates providing health, peace, awareness, spiritual contentment and happiness to he/she who knows it.

If you are at all familiar with alchemy you may have heard of a famous medieval alchemist named Paracelsus who is famous for his contributions to medical science and healing among other things.

Paracelsus is also famed for the notorious story of his creation of a “homunculus” which is essentially a small human created in a vial by a combination of human semen, blood and horse manure which are left to putrefy in a vial.

His own description of the process is thus;

“Let the semen of a man putrefy by itself in a sealed cucurbite [glass vessel] with the highest putrefaction of the venter equinus [horse manure] for 40 days, or until it begins at last to live, move, and be agitated, which can easily be seen. After this time it will be in some degree like a human being, but, nevertheless, transparent and without body. If now, after this, it be every day nourished and fed cautiously and prudently with the arcanum of human blood, and kept for 40 weeks in the perpetual and equal heat of a venter equinus, it becomes, thenceforth, a true and living infant, having all the members of a child that is born from a woman, but much smaller. This we call a homunculus; and it should be afterwards educated with the greatest care and zeal, until it grows up and begins to display intelligence.”

Paracelsus was an intelligent man and knew those who were supposed to get his allegory would get it and those who were not would not.

They would take it literally, just like the alchemists whose whole pursuit was turned into the pursuit for worldly things – the pursuit of real gold as opposed to the gold of the philosophers which is the foundation stone of truth – the crystallisation of the eternal state.

The creation of a solid core of being from which one can proceed in the work and come to know the mysteries of nature.

Paracelsus real meaning was the creation of this stone. “Let the semen of a man putrefy…” This is referring to the storing and building up of the sexual energy which is a most important and necessary element in the creation of this stone.

Another important alchemical premise and truth – “All things grow from putrefaction”. Meaning all things grow from the “death” of other things.

From the holding of the sexual energy and the proper working of the energy of the body (the circulation of the light) a new form is born within the form – of a more subtle character I might add – but which through the holding of this form it becomes more and more crystallised – more and more realised.

From the Golden Flower again; “Therefore you have only to make the light circulate: that is the deepest and most wonderful secret.”

All one must do is maintain the correct form for the energy to circulate and for the crystallisation to occur in the lower abdomen.

Often Alchemical images involve symbolisms within a beaker – a man and a woman embracing. a fire beneath…

The beaker is always representative of the human form within which the great work much take place through the dance of these energies from their houses at different points in the body.

Every symbol has meaning and they will become clearer to you as you go on.
